OUR BELIEFS

Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak, ~2nd Corinthians 4:13

Central to what we believe is that God has done something to restore a relationship with a rebellious people. God has come in the person of Jesus Christ to pay for our sins and take away our guilt and shame. On the cross Jesus, the innocent one, was rejected so that God could embrace us, the guilty ones, as his children. As such, we don’t believe anyone is beyond the reach of God’s radical redeeming love (Isaiah 59:1).

This gospel message was at the heart of the Protestant Reformation where our church finds its roots. As a Reformed church, we believe in:

Scripture Alone: We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of the true and living God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

Faith Alone:We believe that the only way sinners can draw near to a holy God is to have their sins pardoned and receive the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. Not even the best of our works can merit this. Justification is by faith alone and is a once-for-all-act.
Grace Alone:We believe in the sovereignty of God in salvation and all things. Because of sin our hearts are dead. God must give us the grace to put our faith in him.
Christ Alone: We believe that the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is about Jesus Christ, the only hope of salvation. Therefore, we preach Christ and not moralism, legalism, or politics. Only when we focus on Christ can we walk worthy of the calling with which we have been called.
Glory to God Alone: We believe that all things are to be done unto the glory of God. As Paul says in Romans 11:36, “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” Thus we believe that all of life is to have a Godward disposition. From washing dishes to owning a business, to God be all the glory!

A fuller statement of our beliefs can be found in the Westminster Confession of Faith,  the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism.
